I love Valentines Day. Not all the cheesy commercial things, but I love the idea of showing love and appreciation through cute, handmade, thoughtful gestures.
I was hoping to do my own original DIY post for Valentines Day, but with everything that’s been going on, I haven’t had a lot of time. So I thought I’d go through Pinterest and pick out a few of my favorite Valentines projects. These are all things that are super easy to do and most of them are made with things you probably already have on hand (perfect for today when you only have, oh, three days until Valentines Day).

Fluttering Hearts Valentine – I love this homemade Valentine! Plus, it only requires thing you probably have around the house already – scrapbooking paper of different Valentine-y colours, and a sewing machine. So easy! I also love that it’s more 3D and not just flat.

Valentine Window Garland - You know me, I love any garlands. Personally, I want to make a garland for every holiday of the year. :) This one is just so bright and cheery and would look perfect against a grey winter window.

Heart Chain – Okay, so maybe this is another garland. But you could also use this super cute heart chain to decorate a cake, wrap a gift with it, or make it into a necklace for a child.

Embroidered Map – I’ve eyed this almost since I started scouring Pinterest, and I love it! Probably because Mike and I have traveled quite a bit, we have so many cities that have meaning and memories for us. I’d love to find a vintage map of each and make a series of these embroidered prints.

Heart Cake – Here’s a confession: I don’t even really like cake (I’m not a huge sweets person, and when I am, I tend to like fruitier things like pies). But this heart cake is just so cute and such a happy surprise when you cut into it. Love!

I’m not a huge cake person either, but yes the surprise when you cut it open is wonderful. I tried to do something like this when we were going to tell the family we were prego with Noah, but it didn’t quite work cuz I didn’t have time for a test run… plus it had to be gluten-free, egg-free and dairy-free and already right there its going to do something funky.
