Happy New Year!

Happy New Year everyone! I’m so happy for 2012 to be here! 2011 was a challenging year and I think 2012 will be a great fresh start. :)

Mike and I spent New Year at our friend Ally’s house and we brought with a bunch of 36″ sparklers that we had left over from our wedding. Because nothing says New Years like enormous sparklers!

I have to admit, I’m usually not a huge fan of New Years. I usually see it as just another day, but last year is one that I’m glad is done. I generally have a rule that I don’t make resolutions, because I never complete them anyways and then I just feel guilty and terrible about myself for not finishing my goals. But this year I kind of want to make a few and try to actually finish them.

So, here we go.

1 – I want to drive more. Everyone knows that I hate hate HATE driving, meaning Michael is essentially my chauffeur. I really want to get to a point where I drive at least once a week. On my own. And under not-always-perfect circumstances (i.e. low traffic, daylight, perfect weather, etc)

2 – I want to hang out with people more. I’m such a homebody who is much more comfortable just laying low, but I want to try to put myself out there and hang out with friends more. I do have some amazing friends and I want to spend more time with them.

3 – I want to run in the Manitoba Marathon (on Father’s Day in June). I did in 2010 and it was so much fun. I don’t really care if I run the 5k or the half, or what my time is, I just want to do it. I miss running.

4 – I want to finish our kitchen. PLEASE. If it’s not done by the end of 2012, I give up.

5 – I want to go on a vacation. Mike and I usually go on two trips a year, one bigger and then a smaller road trip, but with buying a house, we’re a lot tighter for cash. I want to be able to save enough money for us to go on a decent vacation this year.

What are your resolutions for the New Year?

Mine was to have more confidantes. Confiding my thoughts and feelings in more than my partner, and realizing I have great friends to share the load.

And to climb Machu Picchu then buy a house.

one of my ‘twelve for twelve’ resolutions is definitely to be more social. i’ve put it off for so long, prefering the comfort of home that i am fearing hermit-ness. {is that a word?} good luck to both of us this year!

It’s so much easier to be at home, but I’m convinced it’s for the best to get out of the house a little more! Good luck to you too. xoxo

Love your resolutions! They really make me think.. I definitely need to drive more and stop relying on other people, but I have a huge hatred of driving since an accident I was in a few years ago. I’ve been doing more little by little, but then I get into a funk where I don’t drive anywhere for weeks, and when I start again I get really nervous. So here’s to us getting over our hatred and getting out there more! :)

Accidents are scary! Definitely understandable to not enjoy driving anymore. As a matter of fact, I drove today… twice! I figured I may as well start today. :)

Happy New Year Jessica! It’s been sooooo lovely meeting you and following your blog this past year.
I love your list of resolutions for 2012. I’m with you on #2…it’s so easy to just keep blogging the night away and realize you haven’t gone out in weeks! Here’s to hoping both of us can get dressed up and enjoy some night life ;)
    Cheers!

Definitely! I was hoping to do another Winnipeg blogger meet up in the next few weeks/months. Hopefully you can make it out!

Those are some great goals! I’m still working on my personal goals, trying to get them more specific than the general ideas I have dreamed of. I’m thinking about just making a list of goals each month instead of yearly ones, so I have time to get a little more real about each goal.

Good luck & happy New Year!

I dont really like the whole resolution thing either… they generally are a big failure not necessarily because Im too lazy to finish them, but because time just doesnt seem to be on my side… I’d like to be more social as well… its actually something I’ve been more or less craving. But the one thing I would like to do this year is pump out at least one piece of finished or semi-finished artwork per month. I think this may be dreaming a bit big though… :S

We can both try to be social more often! I love the resolution of doing more artwork, you’re so talented! I want to see what you come up with. It may seem intimidating, but what if they were just small pieces? Not every one has to be huge. :)

That’s the plan, some small, some large but we’ll have to see… I need the babies to co-operate first and foremost! LOL!

I love #2! Excellent resolutions. Is Mike okay with the driving thing? That car is his baby!
